Peekaboo Bum Pants Tutorial
Who doesn’t love an epic cloth diaper? My idea for Peekaboo Bum Pants started when I fell in love with all the pretty cloth diaper prints. My daughter was born in October, so leaving her in just a diaper all winter wasn’t an option. I saw someone on Facebook make a post about the idea of these pants, then decided it was the perfect solution for us. After many trial runs and failed attempts I believe I have found the perfect hack to any ‘Bum Pants’ pattern.
Things you will need:
- Sewing Machine
- Favorite ‘Grow With Me Bum Pants’ pattern
- Piece of paper
- Fabric Marker
Instead of cutting one front and one back of your pants pattern, cut 2 fronts.
Find something round that is approximately 4″ across. I found a small food container was the perfect size. If you do not have anything this size you can cut a 4″ circle out of paper. Center and trace the circle on one of your ‘pant fronts’, this will now be the back piece.
Cut about 1/4″ inside your circle.
Zigzag stitch all the way around the circle. It may look kind of floppy at this point, but that is good!
Fold over the edge of your circle 1/4″ towards the inside of the pants and straight stitch all the way around the circle.
Finish your pants by following the rest of your pattern.
Note: DO NOT use the ‘Bum Circle’ pattern piece as the circle for this tutorial. It is much larger than needed and will not work. Photo for reference.
Note: If you are doing the smaller sizes of pants I would size down the circle by 1″
